It’s like every Internet business owners dream, seeing their traffic states show thousands of unique visitors a day to their website. Can you just imagine the interaction, the sales, the profits that would come rolling in?

However, do you really want that? Think about this… I wish I could remember the site, but it was some site that was selling an app. They were featured on TechCrunch, a very popular tech blog and they got so much traffic their site crashed for a long time. It was insane.

Granted it did really help them in the long run, but here is what I want you to at least think about.

Quantity of Traffic vs. Quality of Traffic

I actually have a fitness blog that gets anywhere from 350 visitors a day on a weekend to upwards of 600 a day during the week. However, it’s all informational at this point and this traffic is not really doing that much for my business.

Personally, I would rather have only 100 visitors a day where 2 of them ended up joining my website or buying something. Even if you don’t get a lot of traffic, the quality of that traffic is much more important.

How Do You Target Quality Traffic

Well you know that the quantity of quality traffic is going to be considerably less. But you have to do some research and think about what keywords are actually going to pull in good searchers.

Most likely the terms will be long tail and very specific. If it’s a product, the product name would be a good keyword. If what they are searching for is a problem or something they want to do, think specifics.

For example, if your site is about joint pain, rather than target “joint pain”, you target a keyword like, “knees joints hurting every night” or “hip joint feeling like it might break.”

Some specific keyword like that can really help.

Make Quality Pay Off Huge

When you go after quality traffic, you need to make sure you are targeting a lot of keywords because that will help bring your traffic numbers up. So if you have 5 to 8 keywords that are all very specific and over time you rank first for them all, hopefully that can bring in hundreds of visitors for you.

In return that will bring in many sales and you will be very happy.

Bottom Line:

Think about traffic a little differently. If you have the chance to go after a huge word and get it ranked, then do it. But spend your time on the converting words that are very specific in nature.

This will help you and safe you from buying all these traffic courses which invariably cover the same topics over and over and you really are still sitting at square one.
