This is the true story of a guy named Curtiss. (That is not his real name because he asked to keep it secret).
However, what he did is something you can do too.
He built a brand new website from complete scratch and through hard work marketing his site, he actually cracked making over $10,000 in revenue by his fifth month in business. He is part of our team actually and it’s really a great story which proves you can do it if you are willing to put forth the work.
Step 1: He Found A Market
The first thing that needed to happen was finding a market and product to sell. He decided to work with a drop shipper and sell physical products. This had many advantages over selling information products.
For one when somebody is looking for a physical product they are looking to buy it. Not necessarily now but soon. The means conversions would be higher and he would not have to learn all about copywriting and persuasion.
He worked a great deal with a factory and created a site selling luxury bed sheets.
Step 2: He Had to Build The Site
It took him about three weeks of pretty hard work to build a site. He used a shopping cart software called Cre Loaded. It’s a free solution but he ended up having to hire a programmer to help him.
Looking back he would have much rather used a cart like Big Commerce.
Building the site was not hard, it was taking the time to load up his products and descriptions. This took the most time, but obviously it’s very integral.
Step 3: He Had to Market The Site
This is what he did everyday for the next 4 and a half months. He make a commitment to himself that no matter what he would not go to bed until he at least built five really good links to his website.
He choose SEO traffic and getting ranked in Google because he did not have enough money to test paid traffic. Using an assortment of tools, he built links like a machine everyday, even on weekends.
He actually didn’t pay attention to where his site was or what was really happening because in his second month he made one sale!
Step 4: Provided Amazing Customer Service
He did only make one sale in his second month but it was a small victory. Traffic began to grow and soon he was making about one sale a week.
His next commitment was to provide the best customer service possible. Besides the product, he knew that customer service would separate him from the competition.
It worked well and helped with word of mouth.
All this time though he did not stop building links. He actually got faster at it and was building more links each day that every before.
Rinse and Repeat Step 3 and Step 4
That is exactly what he did.
Through the gritty work of building links, he was able to take sales all the way up to five figures in a month in just five months. It was a mix of focus and persistence… that is the secret to a great online business.
